Stephen Perry - Dynasty MD
Dynasty sources its rare stones cut only by the best of skilled diamond cutters.
Diamond 4 Cs are: Cut, Colour, Clarity and Carat.
Cut
It takes a very skilled diamond cutter to cut a rough diamond in the correct proportions and symmetry needed to achieve a brilliance.
When a diamond has been cut to the correct proportions & angles, the cut is described in Europe as Very Good/Excellent and in America, an Ideal Cut.
Colour
Colourless diamonds are graded white (D) colour and are extremely rare. Generally diamonds are graded from white (H) to yellow/brown.
The range of colours found are possibly due to the defects within the diamonds atomic lattice.
Red, green, blue, pink and canary-yellow are a few of the rarer 'fancy' colours found in diamonds. The rarer stones are more saturated and deeper in colour. These diamonds are very rare and valuable.
Clarity
A loupe is used to find the natural marks within a diamond. Each diamond is unique, the flaws are the diamonds fingerprint. Diamonds with no flaws (FL) are rare and highly valuable in larger sizes.
Carat
The size of the diamond is measured by weight. The diamond should have good proportions and symmetry therefore the spread of the stone is comparative to its weight.
1 carat = 100 points. 50 points is referred to as 1/2 carat.
1 carat = 200mg (1/5th of a gram).
